Sitemap Generator Guide

An XML sitemap lists important URLs on your website so search engines can discover and revisit them more easily. It is especially helpful for static sites, large tool directories, and blogs with many older pages.

What belongs in a sitemap?

Add indexable pages that are ready for users: homepage, category pages, tool pages, blog posts, guides, and important policy pages. Avoid blocked pages, duplicate URLs, private files, and thin drafts.

When to update it

  • After adding new tools or blog articles.
  • After changing important URLs.
  • After removing pages that now return 404.
  • After major content refreshes.

Static website workflow

Keep the sitemap in your publish root as sitemap.xml. Add the sitemap URL to robots.txt and submit it in Google Search Console. After deployment, open the sitemap in your browser to confirm it is valid XML.

Quality tip

Do not add every file. A sitemap is not a full directory listing. It should include the pages you actually want search engines to crawl and index.

Generate a sitemap

Paste your URLs and create a clean XML sitemap for your static website.
